THE SKULL PROJECT: this is for a show opening next week at gallery 5. the premise is that 100 artists were sent a paper-mache skull and were able to decorate it in any way they saw fit (pretty much…there were size limitations and it had to be free-standing.) the show was organized by mr. noah scalin, author of the SKULLS book, in which he made a skull out of different media everyday for a year, and of CRAFT 365 (something like that…) where he gives pointers and ideas for being inspired to create something everyday. he was also on martha stewart!
so, this is my skull. originally i had planned on making a fabric mask to go over the entire thing, but once i started painting it, there was no way i was going to cover it up! it is called “THE DAY OF THE PARASITIC-MAN” because of what it reminds me of: the day of the dead, batman, and the parasite (a superman badguy.)
yeah, so the opening is next weekend. thursday, friday, and saturday! gallery 5! be there for skully good times!
